Fancy that?! You can make your own toothpaste. Surely to the heavens almighty we’d be making HUGE savings here, wouldn’t we? Silly old supermarkets and all their prices. I reckon this would cost about ooooooooohhhhhh what? $1 a batch? What do you think? Maybe more with whatever essential oil you use but even so WAY cheaper than the manufactured stuff. I always get the willies when I read through the ingredients on the toothpaste tube and just think “what the hell is that anyway? Is that even real? Is that even meant to be consumed in any way by living thingies?”
No, we have to make our own stuff because then we’re saving ourselves money, we know what is going into our familys’ mouths and we can make it how we like it. Hoorah, I say.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons Coconut Oil
2 tablespoons Bicarb-Soda
10 drops of Peppermint oil (optional)
Instructions:
1. Mix together the bicarb-soda and coconut oil until it forms a paste.
2. Add several drops of peppermint oil (if you like) and away you go.
Golly, that was simple.
Does anyone have any tips on how to stop the coconut oil setting so solid? Even in summer it rarely gets to a liquid state here.
Hi Faylie, sorry for the late reply! You need to heat it very gently to get it to a more liquid form. Hope that helps. MB
