Ingredients
2 cups almonds, soaked overnight or for 6 hours or so
4 cups water
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
1 fat pinch celtic sea salt
Method
- Put all ingredients into high speed blender and whizz for a good few minutes.
- Into a large bowl, pour almond mixture into a nut milk bag (you will find these in any good health food store). Squeeze and squeeze until all the liquid has been squeezed out and in the bowl. You should be left with a fairly dry moist bag of almond meal.
- Pour your almond milk into a clean glass bottle and refrigerate.
Tips:
This milk will last for approximately 3 days.
Shake it up before use.
Make sure the container you use is clean or it will go off sooner.
You can also experiment and add cacoa, carob, extra vanilla, some of the other sweet spices like cardamom.
Use it as a basis for smoothies in the morning also.
Experiment with other nuts.
Would this work using a stick blender?
